Effective August 26, 2026 (last updated August 27, 2026)
WODAPP ("the app," "we," "us") is a small, independently-run word-of-the-day app at lexijar.com. This page explains what information we collect when you use it, why, and what you can do about it.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google: we receive your name, email address, and a unique account identifier from Google. We use these to create and maintain your WODAPP account. We never see or store your Google password — Google handles sign-in entirely; we only find out that you successfully signed in, and who you are.
Quiz results: once you're signed in, if you complete the weekly quiz, we store your score, which words you got right or wrong, and when you completed it — tied to your account, so you can see your own history on the Scores page.
Cookies: a small cookie remembers your timezone, so "today's word" matches your local date rather than the server's. A separate session cookie keeps you signed in between page loads. Neither is used for tracking or advertising, and neither is shared with anyone else.
Information we don't collect
- No password — sign-in is Google-only
- No payment or billing information
- No third-party tracking, analytics, or advertising scripts
- No Google profile picture or other Google profile data beyond your name, email, and account identifier, even if Google's sign-in process makes more available to us
How we use your information
Solely to run your account and remember your quiz history, and to keep you signed in between visits. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising. We don't send any email today; if that ever changes (for example, an optional quiz reminder), it'll be something you can opt out of at any time — this policy will be updated first.
Hosting and infrastructure
WODAPP runs on AWS Lightsail (Amazon Web Services) — this is the infrastructure that runs the app and stores its data, not a third party we share your information with for their own purposes. Like most web servers, ours keeps standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, browser type) temporarily, for security and troubleshooting — these aren't tied to your account or used to track you. Separately, the app itself briefly checks IP addresses in memory to prevent abuse of the quiz-saving feature; this isn't written to disk and clears whenever the server restarts.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account and quiz history for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing support@lexijar.com — we'll process it within 30 days. There's no in-app "delete account" button today; email is the way to request it.
Security
Because sign-in is handled entirely by Google, we never store a password of yours to begin with. The app uses standard web security practices (CSRF protection on every request that changes data, encrypted connections once available) to protect your information in transit and at rest.
Google's role
Signing in uses Google's own OAuth sign-in service. Google's handling of your information during that process is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not this one. Separately, our own use of any information we receive through Google's sign-in API complies with Google's API Services User Data Policy.
Children's privacy
WODAPP is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes take effect as soon as they're posted on this page.
